What We Learned This Week
In Language Arts, we read the book What If You Had Animal Teeth? Students worked with this non-fiction book to work on the difference between fact and opinion. Also, students worked with a Venn Diagram to talk about the differences and similarities between animal teeth from the book. Then, they transformed their Venn Diagram into paragraphs! Students also worked on finding the main idea and details. This book pairs with the fictional book from last week, Stellaluna.
Students have been continuing their personal narrative writing! Students have brainstormed ideas as well as feelings to write about for their personal narrative. They will complete a graphic organizer, write a rough draft, and publish this writing by the end of the unit!
Math was focused on finishing up our Time unit and beginning our new unit: Multiplication and Division! During Math Workshop, students engaged in various math games to practice skills learned during whole group lessons and participated in additional instruction with teachers.

No Science this week due to the new Social Studies unit.
Word study focused on unusual past tense words. Students sorted words based on past and present tense and if vowels changed or it went from long to short vowels.
