Week of December 7

Ho! Ho! Holiday Party — Down Syndrome Network

Personal Message

As you are well aware, COVID numbers are up drastically in our area. Brown school has gone to remote learning through December 18th. At this time, we ask that you are extra vigilant when your child is sick or exposed--even if it is not typical COVID symptoms. We are able to post daily assignments online for your student when absent.

Holiday Party

Please use this link Holiday Party to sign up to supply our Holiday parties! We appreciate your help in making this party fun for the third graders!

Important Dates

December 16 - Late Start
December 21 - Winter Break begins

Multiplication Facts

Students will be writing flashcards for each multiplication fact. It is important to note that students will need to bring their flashcards back and forth from home and school.  Remember, harder facts will come later so this is a great time to build your child's self-esteem and confidence with math facts. Let them know they are AMAZING right now and they are doing GREAT!

Reminders

  • Students need to bring their water bottles every day.
  • Students need to bring a snack every day.
  • If you are able to donate snacks (preferably individually wrapped goldfish or pretzels) that would be greatly appreciated!

What We Learned This Week

In Language Arts, we finished doing work around Jumanji and started reading Zathura. Students worked with this fiction text to define character traits, learn about plot, and work on summarizing without giving away too many details. We will work on comparing and contrasting these two books.

Math was focused on continuing to practice multiplication and division! Students learned multiple strategies to use when it comes to solving multiplication and division problems. They have also been learning about helper facts for multiplication and division!

If you are looking for extra practice opportunities, here are some choices on IXL:

Multiplication:   3rd Grade, F1, F2, H6,

Division:   3rd Grade, Section I, Activities 1-5

Elapsed Time:  3rd Grade, Section T, Activities 1-8 (finish the section for a challenge!)

Place Value:  3rd Grade, Section B, Activities 1-9 (6 will be a challenge!)

Addition:   3rd Grade, Section C, Activities 1, 2, 6, 9, 12, 15, 16

Subtraction:   3rd Grade, Section D, Activities 1, 2, 6, 7

Rounding:   3rd Grade, Section P, Activities 1, 2, 3, 5, 8

*Please ask your child to show you ConnectEd. There are some great games for additional practice!
