As you are well aware, COVID numbers are up drastically in our area. Brown school has gone to remote learning through December 11th. At this time, we ask that you are extra vigilant when your child is sick or exposed--even if it is not typical COVID symptoms. We are able to post daily assignments online for your student when absent.

What We Learned This Week
In Language Arts, we read the book Jumanji. Students worked with this fiction text to define character traits, learn about plot, and work on summarizing without giving away too many details.
Math was focused on continuing to practice multiplication and division! Students learned the strategies of add-a-group and subtract-a-group with arrays. They have also been learning about helper facts for multiplication and division!
If you are looking for extra practice opportunities, here are some choices on IXL:
Multiplication: 3rd Grade, F1, F2, H6,
Division: 3rd Grade, Section I, Activities 1-5
Elapsed Time: 3rd Grade, Section T, Activities 1-8 (finish the section for a challenge!)
Place Value: 3rd Grade, Section B, Activities 1-9 (6 will be a challenge!)
Addition: 3rd Grade, Section C, Activities 1, 2, 6, 9, 12, 15, 16
Subtraction: 3rd Grade, Section D, Activities 1, 2, 6, 7
Rounding: 3rd Grade, Section P, Activities 1, 2, 3, 5, 8
*Please ask your child to show you ConnectEd. There are some great games for additional practice!
No Social Studies this week.
Science was focused on our new unit, Animals Through Time. Students learned about different types of fossils and the different layers that can be found under the ground. They have also have learned about dinosaurs and how scientists determined what they looked like on the outside as well as what they would have eaten based on their skulls and teeth. Today they were able to try outrunning a dinosaur!
