Week of January 25

Reminders

  • Students need to bring their water bottles every day. The office has plastic water bottles, but they are running out. It is important that your student brings a reusable water bottle to school every single day as our drinking fountains are only being used to fill water bottles.
  • Students need to bring a snack every single day. If you are going to donate to the classroom, please only provide individually wrapped goldfish or pretzels. When you donate snacks that are not individually wrapped, we have to bag the snacks ourselves and with COVID-19 we would like to reduce the number of snacks we have to handle. Additionally, we find that when other snacks are provided, students are "forgetting" their snacks. This makes it difficult when students actually forget their snacks.
  • Students need to practice their multiplication facts every night as well as bring the note cards to and from home.
  • Students have lost or broken their earbuds/headphones. The school has only so many to offer and we are running out. Please talk with your student to check that they have working earbuds/headphones here at school.

No Valentine's Day Party

Per the Clarke Connection Blog:

Valentine's Day is right around the corner! It just so happens that the 14th is on a Sunday this year and students do not have school on Friday the 12th or on Monday the 15th.

Teachers have been busy planning activities and lessons to include in their morning meetings that will take the place of the traditional card exchange and parties. With this year being a little different, there is no need to send anything in from home, we will handle it all!

During the week of February 8 - 11, it just so happens our Positivity Project (P2) activities will be focused on "Love." Love means that you value close relationships with others and being close to people. The character strength of love represents the way we think, feel, and behave towards the people with whom we have close relationships.

Please do not have your student bring anything from home to school.

We will cover everything here at school! Thank you for understanding.

Math was focused on the unit: measurement and data. Students looked at multiple different types of graphs and discussed what they noticed along with what the graphs could be used for. Students gathered their own data using their classmates to create a bar graph. Pictographs were also observed and discussed as well as created by students!
