What We Learned This Week
In Language Arts, we have enjoyed researching and reading about various heroes to celebrate during Black History Month. Our students are utilizing many important reading and writing skills while, at the same time, learning about our nation's difficult past. These heroes have overcome tough challenges. and/or cleared the path for change.
For Writing, students have continued working on their informational texts. We have focused on creating topic sentences and writing the body paragraphs. Introductions and conclusions will also be written by students. We will be finishing up this unit next week.
In Math we finished our unit on measurement to the 1/4 inch. We also continued to work on creating line plots around data and answering questions about the line plot. This was lots of fun and our students are really growing. The end of the week brought the new topic of perimeter. Area will be added soon. This is always a unit that is lots of fun for kids.
Next week in Social Studies we will begin a brand new unit. Students will create flipbooks to document all they are learning about each important person and even in Michigan.
Our unit on Force in Science is now complete! Our students learned a lot about forces, pushes, pulls, and friction. Mystery Doug is amazing!
