What We Learned This Week

In Language Arts, we read the book Mr. Peabody's Apples. Students completed work around the fictional book such as sequencing, character traits, and summarizing. This book will pair with the nonfiction text we will be reading next week.

Math was focused on subtraction! Students learned how to use the counting-up strategy to solve subtraction problems as well as the traditional method. During Math Workshop, students engaged in various math games to practice skills learned during whole group lessons and participated in additional instruction with teachers.

This week we tested on Unit 1 for Social Studies. Students showed their knowledge of their map skills when it came to identifying the Great Lakes, both Michigan peninsulas, and surrounding states. Additionally, students took the Unit 1 Social Studies test which included
the state symbols, various facts about the Great Lakes, and the differences between the two peninsulas.

No Science this week due to the half days on Thursday and Friday.

Word study focused on students adding -ing to words that were vowel-consonant-silent e and vowel-vowel-consonant. Next week's word study can be found below!
