Reminders

  • Students need to bring their water bottles every day.
  • Students need to bring a snack every day.
  • We are good on extra snacks right now--thank you so very much for your donations!

What We Learned This Week

In Language Arts, we read the book All About Apples. Students completed work around the non-fiction book such as cause and effect, text features, and illustrations vs. text. This book pairs with the fictional book we read last week, Mr. Peabody's Apples.

Math was focused on reviewing addition and subtraction! Students reviewed the strategies to solve addition and subtraction problems such as partial sums and traditional for addition. For subtraction, they reviewed the counting-up strategy and traditional. During Math Workshop, students engaged in various math games to practice skills learned during whole group lessons and participated in additional instruction with teachers.

If you are looking for extra practice opportunities, here are some choices:

Place Value:  3rd Grade, Section B, Activities 1-9 (6 will be a challenge!)

Addition:   3rd Grade, Section C, Activities 1, 2, 6, 9, 12, 15, 16

Subtraction:   3rd Grade, Section D, Activities 1, 2, 6, 7

Rounding:   3rd Grade, Section P, Activities 1, 2, 3, 5, 8

No Social Studies this week due to the short week and finishing up the last mystery for science.

For Science, students completed the final mystery of our first unit, Power of Flowers. Over the course of this first unit, students learned the difference between a science vegetable and a science fruit. Additionally, they learned how fruit grows from flowers.

Word study focused on reviewing the different rules for adding -ing to the end of words. Next week's word study can be found below!

Word Study Next Week

Here is what your student will need to know how to spell for next week Friday (the 30th):
