May 19th-Late start

Charlton Park

Each May, we have the opportunity to take our 3rd graders on a field trip to Charlton Park. Unfortunately, this year we aren't able to attend any field trips...... BUT, the good news is that they will be coming to us virtually! We will have the opportunity to go through each historic building virtually and then connect with one of the guides from the park. Students will be able to ask questions and share thoughts about their learning. In addition, the park sent some hands on materials that we will be able to build and learn about!

Wednesday: Mrs Knuth and Miss Yoder
Thursday: Mrs. Covert

NWEA

Our last NWEA test will be math, and we will plan to test Wednesday and Thursday of next week. Thank you for ensuring your child gets a good night's sleep and has a healthy breakfast!

Word Study Next Week

The words for next Friday are: money, hockey, movie, twenty

What We Learned This Week

Language Arts: Each day, we are reading a new article and learning about various text structures. We are also answering comprehension questions to go along with the article. We will also begin reading One Hundred Dresses in small groups.

Writing: Our final writing unit will focus on writing an opinion essay. This essay will center around Michigan topics.

Math: We continue to work on our operations and algebraic thinking standards. In this unit, we will be solving 2-step number stories, finding factors, and breaking apart larger multiplication problems. It will be important for students to know their multiplication facts for this unit!

Social Studies: Our next unit will focus on Economics. Students will watch a series of episodes called Econ and Me. We will be discussing scarcity, opportunity cost, consumption, production, and interdependence.

Don't forget to read!
20 - 25 minutes a night minimum will set your student up for an amazing future.. Check out this graphic to recognize the importance of reading. A missed day of reading can never be made up.

  • There are no drinking fountains at school. Bring a refillable water bottle to school each day.
  • Earbuds/Earphones are an essential part of learning. Many students do not have working earbuds at school. We have some available for student use but students often do not like how they feel.
