Week of May 10

Mrs. Covert, Mrs. Knuth, and Miss Yoder would like to send another heartfelt thank you to all of our families for making teacher appreciation week such a wonderful week for all of us. We feel beyond appreciated and hope you know how much we appreciate all of you. Education is a team effort and your partnership is essential. Thank you for your generosity, kindness, and support 💙💛💙💛

Important Dates

May 19th-Late start
May 26th-Late start
May 31st-No School/Memorial Day

Charlton Park
We may not have been able to attend Charlton Park in person, but our virtual field trip was a success! The park curators did a wonderful job showing and telling about life in the 1800s and 1900s.  Be sure to ask your child about life during that time period.
Thank you to Mrs. Dunleavy for the field trip snack. 💜

NWEA & M-Step
Unless your child was absent during the M-Step, all standardized testing for 3rd grade is complete! Way to work hard 3rd-graders!

Word Study Next Week

The words for next Friday are: advice, cider, celery, dancer, message

What We Learned This Week

Language Arts: We have finished up our text structure articles.  Next week we will begin The Hundred Dresses which will help to reinforce our P2 traits that we have discussed all year. It's a great book for the end of 3rd grade!

Writing: Our final writing unit will focus on writing an opinion essay. This essay will center around Michigan topics.

Math: We have completed our two-step number stories and all other units for the year. For the remainder of the year, we will work on fun, application activities to reinforce standards from the year.  It will be important for students to know their multiplication facts for this unit!

Social Studies: We will be completing our "Econ and Me" unit next week and will then move on to our final chapter in social studies.

Don't forget to read!
20 - 25 minutes a night minimum will set your student up for an amazing future. Check out this graphic to recognize the importance of reading. A missed day of reading can never be made up.

Don't forget...

  • Continue practicing multiplication facts.. The ability to recall facts is reported on report cards. We still have one trimester to memorize facts so keep working!
  • There are no drinking fountains at school. Bring a refillable water bottle to school each day.
  • Earbuds/Earphones are an essential part of learning. Many students do not have working earbuds at school. We have some available for student use but students often do not like how they feel.
