What We Learned This Week

Language Arts: We are continuing our work on the book The Hundred Dresses. This is a powerful book about recognizing that our words and actions affect others.  Its message also encourages acceptance and the idea of community. Ask your child about this important book.

Writing: We are finishing up our opinion essays. Next week students will write another opinion essay on a topic of their choice.

Math: For the remainder of the year, we will work on fun, application activities to reinforce standards from the year. Students continue to practice fact fluency and are working to complete their 30 problem/2 minute test.

Social Studies: Students are working through chapter 7 to learn about the history of transportation in Michigan and the auto industry. We will finish the chapter next week and there will be a test on Tuesday of the next week.

Don't forget...

  • Continue practicing multiplication facts.. The ability to recall facts is reported on report cards. We still have one trimester to memorize facts so keep working!
  • There are no drinking fountains at school. Bring a refillable water bottle to school each day.
  • Earbuds/Earphones are an essential part of learning. Many students do not have working earbuds at school. We have some available for student use but students often do not like how they feel.
