What We Learned This Week

Language Arts: We have continued our research with "Women's History Month". Our 3rd graders will continue to grow their reading skills while learning about these important women. We are completing "Don't Get Cold Feet",  a new close reading story. Look for the questions to come home to see how your child is progressing with answering questions about the text. Our next text will focus on Avalanches.

Writing: Our informational writing units are complete! The completed books will be graded and sent home soon.

Math: Our fraction unit is well underway!  There are 3 goals for this unit. Students should be able to identify a fraction of a whole, recognize and partition fractions on a number line, and identify equivalent fractions. Students can work on Section V 1 - 11 of IXL or on Khan Academy at home for extra practice. Ask them about the "stars" they've colored along the way to show what they know!

Social Studies: We have started chapter 6 on Michigan and its' many natural resources!

Science: We have only 1 science unit left for the year. It is called "Stormy Skies" and we will begin this unit as we get closer to spring.

  • Continue practicing multiplication facts.. The ability to recall facts is reported on report cards. We still have one trimester to memorize facts so keep working!
  • There are no drinking fountains at school. Bring a refillable water bottle to school each day.
  • Earbuds/Earphones are an essential part of learning. Many students do not have working earbuds at school. We have some available for student use but students often do not like how they feel.
