Word Study Next Week

No Word Study this upcoming week.

What We Learned This Week

Language Arts: We have continued our research with "Women's History Month", learning about amazing women such as Helen Keller and Joan of Arc! Our 3rd graders will continue to grow their reading skills while learning about these important women. We are nearing the end of our reading, annotating, and responses for our reading passage about avalanches. Be sure to ask your child about the different types of avalanches they are learning about!

Writing: We will be typing our informational writing to submit to the technology festival! Our next unit will focus on opinion writing.

Math: There are 3 goals for this unit. Students should be able to identify a fraction of a whole, recognize and partition fractions on a number line, and identify equivalent fractions. Students can work on Section V 1 - 11 of IXL or on Khan Academy at home for extra practice. Ask them about the "stars" they've colored along the way to show what they know!

Social Studies/Science: We will be taking a break from social studies and science to focus on helping students master finding the area and perimeter of polygons and to extend their thinking!

  • Continue practicing multiplication facts.. The ability to recall facts is reported on report cards. We still have one trimester to memorize facts so keep working!
  • There are no drinking fountains at school. Bring a refillable water bottle to school each day.
  • Earbuds/Earphones are an essential part of learning. Many students do not have working earbuds at school. We have some available for student use but students often do not like how they feel.
